Severe Thunderstorms

Severe thunderstorms ripped through the area in mid June leaving a path of downed trees and destruction from Lake Ontario through Tug Hill into the Adirondacks.  Large trees were uprooted by the hundreds.

Pictured a few trees down in Winona Forest.

April 2008

Snow remains in the woods in Redfield despite the warm temperaturesThe record temperatures this week in April can hardly be believed.  You would think that the eighty degree weather would melt off the snow on Tug Hill.  But there is still some in the woods in the higher points.  The accompanying photo was taken in Redfield on April 20.

The warmer weather brings a lot of people out fishing but I didn’t see any this week with a catch.  Water is still too cold, although the warm temperatures should take care of that in a quick hurry. What a difference a winter makes!

What a Difference a Winter Makes!

The above photos are of the Salmon River Reservoir in Redfield, top photo taken in April 20.  Bottom photo was taken in late August 2007.  Several feet of water difference shows just how much snow fell this winter in the area.
